For me, EMPOWERING MY VOICE has been a journey of getting out of my own way and not giving a damn what anyone thinks about me.
The thing is, I always loved to sing. I was in school choir most years, I sang my heart out in my bedroom at night while I made mixtapes, I would blast the radio in the car and let my voice run wild, and of course I was no stranger to a good shower sing-out!
But I would never dare step into a solo act.
I thought voice was meant to be hidden amongst the ‘real’ singers, and kept on a tight leash (like all wild things).
The beliefs I held that held me back; “I am not a singer”, "Who am I to take up space?", "People might not like what I have to say", "I don't want to ruffle any feathers", "Best to simply smile, nod, and agree".
I eventually realized that it wasn’t just about singing.
In holding back my true voice, I had been denying the world (and myself) the gifts of my authentic expression.
I had been singing the songs of others, so to speak… parroting cultural storylines and mimicking ways of being that were not meaningful for me.
My diverse background as a digital media producer, writer, yoga and meditation teacher gave me a great start. I had spent over a decade supporting corporate executives, small business owners, and people from all walks of life in elevating their expressions and awareness.
But I hadn't yet found my own voice.
Empowering my voice meant allowing the full spectrum of me out to play - untamed, and unashamed.
And so, over many years, I studied with masters, dove into the depths of sound and song research and practice, began living life as a musical, and reclaimed the intuitive vibratory magic of a voice fully expressed and integrated.
I viscerally remember that moment when I finally felt free.
And once I opened the faucet, my voice flowing fully, there was no turning it off.
Of course, it’s been a non-linear, deeply healing journey.
Self-doubt, comparison, and feelings of unworthiness creep in from time to time, reminding me of where I came from and nudging me to step into even wider edges of growth.
And because I’ve been where you are, standing at the precipice ready to fly, it gives me great joy to share the treasure chest of tools, practices and insights I’ve picked up along the way… to help you EMPOWER YOUR VOICE!
